Concrete barrier installation planned north of Sheridan
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is alerting the public of planned lane closures on State Route 65 (SR-65) between the towns of Sheridan and Wheatland.
The overnight lane closures will be in effect tonight from 7:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. Caltrans will implement one way traffic control in the affected area with signs, flaggers and a pilot vehicle to manage traffic through the construction zone.
Crews will be installing concrete barrier along the northbound shoulder in preparation for constructing a detour that will allow crews to construct the north-end Lincoln Bypass connection to the current SR-65 roadway. The detour will take approximately three weeks to construct and will remain in place until the opening of the Lincoln Bypass later this year.
The work being done is part of a $325 million project to create an 11.7-mile highway bypass around the City of Lincoln. The bypass will open to the public on schedule in 2012.
