UPDATE: Traffic Shift on Southbound Route 65 Starts Saturday, June 25

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is alerting the public of a traffic shift on the south end of the Lincoln Bypass project, where the new Lincoln Bypass connects to existing Route 65 just north of Twelve Bridges Drive. Starting Saturday, June 25, southbound Highway 65 traffic will be detoured under the Industrial Avenue Bridge at Sterling Parkway then will rejoin the existing freeway. A portion of the detour will be posted at 20 MPH due to a sharp curve on the detour alignment. Motorists are advised to watch all signs directing traffic.

To implement the traffic shift, construction crews will implement southbound lane closures on Route 65, from 10 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, to install concrete barrier and paint traffic stripes. One lane in each direction will be open at all times. Following the traffic shift to the detour, two lanes in each direction will remain open at all times.
All work is scheduled on a tentative basis and is subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of Caltrans, City of Lincoln and PCTPA.

Northbound traffic is expected to join this alignment in approximately three to four weeks to make room for construction of the south end connections.
The work being done is part of a $325 million project to create an 11.7 mile bypass around the City of Lincoln. Completion is expected in 2012.
